As-Salamu Alaikum, Blessed Minara Family,
Welcome to the first week of Ramadan! 🌙❤️
As we navigate through these beautiful days ahead of us, our hearts and homes are filled with the spirit of worship, reflection, and community.
This week, let’s delve into the transformative power of Tahajjud, the sixth prayer we want to comit ourselves to this month, and discover why Ramadan provides the perfect opportunity to cultivate this beautiful practice.
The Beauty of Tahajjud: Awakening Before Dawn
When the world is silent and the peacefulness of the night is at its peak, the precious time for Tahujjud lies.
Allah mentions in Surah Al-Isra:
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِۦ نَافِلَةً لَّكَ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَّحْمُودًا
And rise at ˹the last˺ part of the night, offering additional prayers, so your Lord may raise you to a station of praise.
This voluntary prayer, performed in the last third of the night, holds immense spiritual significance and rewards.
Why Focus on Tahajjud During Ramadan?
A Time of Nearness to Allah: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Our Lord descends to the nearest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call upon Me, that I may answer Him? Who is asking something of Me, that I may give it to him? Who is asking forgiveness of Me, that I may forgive him?'” (Bukhari and Muslim).
Enhancing the Time of Suhoor: Waking up for Suhoor already alters our nightly routine, making it an opportune time to extend our wakefulness a little longer for Tahajjud.
The Perfect Prelude to Fajr: Engaging in Tahajjud before the Fajr prayer sets a serene and contemplative tone for the day ahead, allowing us to start our fasts on a spiritually high note.
🌿Cultivating the Tahajjud Habit:
1. Intention: Start with a sincere intention to seek closeness to Allah through Tahajjud. Remember, it’s the quality of your prayer that counts, not the quantity.
2. Gradual Approach: If you’re new to Tahajjud, begin with two rakats and slowly increase as you become more accustomed to waking up at this time.
3. Reflection and Dua: Use this quiet time for heartfelt dua and reflection. It’s a moment to pour out your worries, hopes, and dreams to Allah, knowing He is listening.
4. Consistency: Try to make Tahajjud a part of your nightly routine throughout Ramadan. The discipline you build this month can set the foundation for a lifelong practice.
