Finding Laylatul Qadr

a night just for you

Salaam Minara Family,

We hope this week’s newsletter finds you with so much health and spiritual wealth 🤍.

A quick reminder to keep reading the following du’a we shared last week as much as possible in the last ten days of Ramadan because we have well and truly entered the last ‘ashara.

The Night of Power

Yesterday [Thursday evening] marked the first night of the last ten days of Ramadan.

And that means Laylatul Qadr has entered the chat!

Laylatul Qadr, or the "Night of Power" is one of the most special nights in the Islamic calendar. It’s believed to be the night when the Noble Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad . This night is like a spiritual jackpot, offering blessings, forgiveness, and mercy that are unmatched in any other time of the year.

al-Qur’an 97:1-5

While only Allah knows the exact date, we do know, it falls in the last ten days of Ramadan, with a focus on the odd-numbered nights: the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, and 29th. Many believe Laylatul Qadr is most likely to occur on the 27th night, but it could show up anytime during these odd nights.

The idea is to seek it out, praying and asking Allah Almighty’s mercy, because whoever stands in prayer on this night is promised immense and immeasurable rewards.

It’s said that the night is ‘better than a thousand months’, meaning that any good deed performed during this night is magnified far beyond what we can imagine. So, whether you're offering extra prayers, giving charity, or just reflecting on your Ramadan, the rewards are endless. It’s like hitting the spiritual reset button in Ramadan when energies may be wavering and tiredness really beginning to tease 😴💤.

In essence, Laylatul Qadr is our golden opportunity to get closer to Allah and make the most out of Ramadan.

Keep an eye on those odd nights - you never know when it might arrive.

And the mystery of when exactly Laylatul Qadr happens to be - well that’s all part of the fun! Allah Almighty has kept the exact date a secret to encourage us to really seek it out. Consider it your annual treasure hunt where the treasure is nearness to Allah and spiritual wealth upon wealth.

By not knowing the exact night, we’re motivated to make the most of every odd night in the last ten days of Ramadan - so we don’t miss out on all the blessings. It’s a test of faith and dedication, helping us get closer to Allah in our efforts, regardless of the specific night.

PLUS, who doesn’t love a little mystery to spice things up?

Some quick tips for you to make the most of Laylatul Qadr ⬇️:

We Love…

du’a to be read in Laylatul Qadr

Al-’Afuww [The Ever-Pardoning] is the One who wipes away sins and forgives out shortcomings.

Whilst Allah holds many attributes related to forgiveness - take ‘al-Ghafur’ [The Forgiving] for example, al-’Afuww transcends that.

Al-’Afuww is One who completely erases all traces and lasting remnants of our sins.

He wipes our slates utterly clean.

What does this mean in technical terms?

  1. Allah will wipe our sins away from our records written by the angels.

  2. Allah will not hold us accountable for these sins on the Day of Reckoning.

  3. Allah will not even remind us of these sins so as not to make us feel guilty.

Ya ‘Afuwwun! Oh Pardoner Divine. Hear our feeble, broken prayers and cleanse us until not a speck of our sins remains.

Du’a for Palestine

And as the weight of the genocide and slaughter of our Palestinian mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and children transcends all human comprehension, please please increase the weight and volume of your prayers for these blessed people in these blessed nights of this blessed month.

May the martyrs of Falasteen fly freely in the skies of Paradise, may Malikul Mulk deal swiftly and justly with the oppressors and their enablers, may His angels surround the Palestinians as their protectors and may He provide for them from sources never imagined. May His Divine Intervention envelop them beyond belief.

Aameen Ya Rabbi.

A humble request to also remember Team Minara in your prayers this Ramadan.

💛🌙
